Rob

I'm Rob. I'm a South African journalist.

I spend a lot of time asking people impertinent and difficult questions, transcribing their answers and writing them up for newspapers (like The Guardian, The Mail & Guardian, The Jewish Chronicle and The South African) magazines (NME, Wired, Huck Magazine, Computer Music, Aesthetica, GamesTM, PlayGamer) and websites (Beatnik, Okayplayer, The Daily Maverick).

But there's a twist here. I love sound and music as much as I love writing. Not just performing music, but fiddling with sound, mixing audio and creating cool little sonic experiments. I once spent an entire university vacation creating a single sixty-second jingle for my radio show. True story.

So when I'm not doing bucketloads of writing, I do a couple of other things.

I'm a radio DJ. I put out my own music show, 20/20, which gets broadcast on Recharged Radio. I'm also a sound engineer: I work freelance for the good folks at the bad-ass creative agency Maple Street Studios in London, mixing radio ads for companies like Alfa Romeo, Sony, Mastercard, EA Games, Nissan and Bose, as well as a bunch of other production bits.

And now I'm really going to confuse things. I'm also a hip-hop artist, and recently released my debut full-length, African, under the name Rob One.

By the way, since CVs are about the most boring thing on the planet, have a squiz at this. It's much more fun.

(Oh, you really are that boring? OK. Here's a LinkedIn page)

Below is a full list of everyone I write or have written for. God help them.
